This page is a help or manual page for the ISFDB database. It describes standards or methods for entering or maintaining data in the ISFDB database, or otherwise working with the database. Other help pages may be found via the category below. To discuss what should go on this page, use the talk page.

If, after exploring the Help system, you still have a question, please visit the Help desk and let us know. We probably know the answer, but we need your help to know what we left out of the help pages.

If you are new to editing the ISFDB, please see Help:Getting Started.

If you notice that a book has incorrect information, you can usually update it by editing it. However, if you discover that one of the stories listed should not be there -- perhaps this is a variant edition of an anthology that drops some stories -- then the edit screen won't help, because it doesn't let you delete any of the contents of a book. You'll run into the same problem if you need to delete artwork or an essay or poem, or reviews or interviews.

To delete these items, display the publication, and then you will see a link in the left navbar labelled "Remove Titles from this Pub". Clicking on this link will bring up a list of all the contents of the publication, with a checkbox against each one. Check the box for the ones you want to remove and click "Submit Data"; on approval by a moderator, this will delete those titles from this publication.
