Mike Eric Swope (ISFDB Cannonical name: Mike E. Swope) was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 5, 1968. He graduated from Missouri Western State College (now Missouri Western State University) in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and graduated from Wichita State University in 1995 with an MFA in Creative Writing (Short Fiction). He received the Passport Award for Poetry in 1989 and 1990 from Icarus literary magazine published by Missouri Western State College. In 1991, he received the Sigma Tau Delta Judson Q. Owen Award for Short Fiction for his short story "Dreams," selected by award-winning poet Naomi Shihab Nye. Mike was the first writer to have two stories ("Timber Wolf" and "Dreams") appear in consecutive issues of The Triangle, Sigma Tau Delta's literary magazine. In 1992, Mike's story "Timepieces" was selected the 3rd Place winner for the 4th Quarter in L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future contest. "Timepieces" was subsequently published in L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Vol. VIII. Mike currently publishes book, software and hardware reviews on various web sites, including epinions.com, maccompanion.com, sfreader.com and macnn.com.
